From 31 March 2025, All UK businesses with 10 or more full time employees must seperate into different bins and containers the following waste types under the under Simpler Recycling regulations

Paper and Cardboard
Mixed Recyclables

If your business has fewer than 10 Full time employees, including sole traders and micro-businesses your deadline to comply is 31 March 2027. You do not need to make changes immediately if you employ fewer than 10 people.

How much does small business waste collection cost?

Small business waste collection costs depend on a number of factors including

The size of your bins e.g. 240-litre, 660-litre, 1100-litre wheelie bins or even larger front-end loaders for businesses with higher volumes of waste
How often bins are collected, daily, weekly or fortnightly.

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, any waste produced by a business cannot be put in your household council bin.
