Sevenoaks Waste

Sevenoaks is a small market town situated 21 miles south-east of London in the County of Kent. With a population of just 21,409 people, it is one of the smallest towns in Kent, but it offers excellent transport connections being situated near the interchange between the M25 and the M26, which links London to Dover and Felixstowe.

The town is popular with commuters to London due to its mainline station which serves trains to Charing Cross and Brighton. This has put pressure on local house prices which are higher in Sevenoaks than other parts of the county and continue to rise due to a shortage of new houses being built.

Industry in the town is dominated by SMEs. The largest single employer is the Fort Halstead testing facility, located on the edge of town, which is part of the Royal Armament Research and Development Establishment. BT also have a major presence in the town with an office near the railway station.

As a small market town, Sevenoaks hasn’t suffered from the blight of 60s redevelopment like more urban areas. The town boasts a mix of well-known stores and independents, which gives the high street a unique fashionable appeal.

There are a number of recent developments in the town, with M&S opening a new department store in the Bligh shopping area on London Road. The site, a former bus station, is also home to a number of restaurants and some independent retailers.

With a growing number of businesses in a diverse range of industries, the town requires effective business waste management services to keep on top of its refuse needs, helping maintain the area for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Waste disposal

With limited recycling services available in Sevenoaks, companies are forced to make alternative arrangements to ensure they recycle as much of their waste as possible to reduce their impact on the environment. At Business Waste, we provide a full recycling service for items such as plastic, wood, paper, cardboard and glass. If you’re not sure which parts of your waste can be recycled, our recycling experts can help you identify these items by carrying out a free waste management audit. This will establish the exact waste management services your business requires. Contact our specialist recycling team now to arrange your audit.

  • Do you supply a duty of care certificate?

Yes, we provide a duty of care certificate (also known as a waste transfer note (WTN)) free of charge as part of your service agreement. This is included for free every time we collect any type of waste from your premises. Duty of care certificates are a legal requirement and licensed waste carriers can complete them for free – so you should never be charged for one.

Find out more about them in our guide to waste transfer notes.

We offer our customers a choice of daily, weekly, or fortnightly collections – so your bins are emptied as often as you want. Our expert team can advise on the correct waste collection schedule based on the type and amount of waste you produce and your business needs – such as your bin storage space and location.

Bin collection times vary depending on your location, waste type, number and size of bins, and other factors. We work with all our customers to ensure your waste is always collected on time when it’s suitable for you and the licensed waste carrier. We can work around access times to arrange collections at convenient times.

If you have specific questions about reducing a certain type of waste, find the relevant page in Your Waste.

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems

These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.

  • What is ISO certification and why is it important?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.

ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
