Waste Collection
Dover

We realise that a huge part of waste management is time management, especially where Dover is concerned. Whether you are small business with direct competitors and want to stay ahead in the area, or a firm with national aspirations which is attempting to keep up with the city-based ‘big boys’, time is of the essence. That’s why we can provide a trade waste disposal quote for you within an hour, as well as arrange collections at short notice from areas including Alkham, Guston and Whitfield. Dealing with waste can be an unpredictable duty for some businesses, so our service is as responsive as possible, meaning you won’t suffer from the problems associated with a build up of waste at your work place.

Waste Disposal
Dover

From White Cliffs Business Park to the town centre, small to medium businesses and corporations with a presence in Dover are under increasing pressure to adhere to commendable policies when it comes to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). One CSR element which is seen as a given for businesses is a waste management programme which includes recycling, and our range of equipment – from wheelie bins to roll on containers and skips – is designed to allow our clients to earmark items for recycling easily. It is then our job to ensure everything from every day recyclable waste to substances and items which may be hazardous, are disposed of in Dover using environmentally friendly practices.

Recycling
Dover

The port town of Dover is one of the UK’s most idyllic, with its white cliffs overlooking the English Channel etched into the minds of many as one of the iconic images of the UK landscape.

It is a very strategically positioned city, being a natural point of entry for those seeking to embark on English soil after crossing by water from mainland Europe. For this reason, it was defended with great resoluteness during the Second World War, when it was heavily bombarded by enemy guns from across the Channel. Dover Castle possesses 2,000 years of history and has been known as the ‘Key to England’.

Today Dover, with a population of over 30,000, is home to many busy business and industrial districts, including the Charlton Centre on the High Street, Dover Marina, and the Port itself, which as well as being a shipping hub, welcomes over 18 million passengers a year on to its boats as they head to a number of destinations including mainland Europe.

Trust
Business Waste

Like all sightly locations which wish to retain their beauty, the onus is on businesses and public organisations in the Dover area to manage their waste effectively if the town is to avoid a blot on its reputation as a desirable place to live and visit. Figures released in 2013 by DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) showed that Dover produces the third lowest amount of waste in the country, but even more important is how we dispose of our waste, who we choose to do it, and delivering programmes for waste management Dover can be proud of.

Got a
Question?

  • Can I add an additional bin to my service?

Yes, of course. We can provide extra bins for new waste streams to encourage recycling. Or if you’re simply producing more waste of the same type, we can add an extra or larger bin to your delivery and collection services if you’re at capacity.

  • Do you supply a duty of care certificate?

Yes, we provide a duty of care certificate (also known as a waste transfer note (WTN)) free of charge as part of your service agreement. This is included for free every time we collect any type of waste from your premises. Duty of care certificates are a legal requirement and licensed waste carriers can complete them for free – so you should never be charged for one.

Find out more about them in our guide to waste transfer notes.

  • How often will my bin be emptied?

We offer our customers a choice of daily, weekly, or fortnightly collections – so your bins are emptied as often as you want. Our expert team can advise on the correct waste collection schedule based on the type and amount of waste you produce and your business needs – such as your bin storage space and location.

  • What time will my bin be collected?

Bin collection times vary depending on your location, waste type, number and size of bins, and other factors. We work with all our customers to ensure your waste is always collected on time when it’s suitable for you and the licensed waste carrier. We can work around access times to arrange collections at convenient times.

  • What type of wheelie bins are available?

A range of two and four-wheel bins are available to store all sorts of waste on your premises. Explore our bins to see all available bins and information about what types and amounts of waste they can hold.

For any questions and answers about wheelie bin weight limits, sizes, locks, and anything else – read our bin FAQ guide.

  • How can we reduce our waste?

There are many ways to reduce the amount of waste we produce as individuals and businesses. A waste audit can highlight where you’re producing lots of waste as a starting place to cut down. Simple steps to reduce waste include efficient purchasing, buying reusable products, and recycling as much as possible. For more tips, read our guide about how to reduce waste.

If you have specific questions about reducing a certain type of waste, find the relevant page in Your Waste.

  • Do you collect any type of waste?

Yes! We can collect a wide range of waste types in various amounts from all sorts of businesses. From general waste to popular glass, paper, and packaging recycling – as well as specialist waste streams such as clinical, hazardous, and pharmaceutical waste – we work with licensed waste carriers able to safely collect all such types.

  • Is Business Waste ISO certified?

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems

These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.

  • What is ISO certification and why is it important?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.

ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
