Recycling
South Shields

South Shields is a moderately sized coastal town situated at the mouth of the River Tyne. The first evidence of the area being inhabited stretches back to the Stone Age, and it has many impressive historical landmarks, including the ruins of the Arbeia Roman Fort, which served as a home to a Roman Garrison in 160 AD. It has a moderate concentration of shopping opportunities, arts venues, and attractions scattered along its seafront, as well as its own museum and art gallery. Though the town used to have a booming shipbuilding industry, this petered out towards the end of the 20th century.
