Waste Collection
Essex

Business Waste’s oil collections and hazardous waste skills are perfect for the industrial south and the areas close to or part of Greater London, such as Loughton, Chigwell and Grays.

Hazardous waste is particularly pertinent to the growth in science and technology businesses in Chelmsford, which is also the site of Marconi’s first radio factory, a major technology hub in addition to Harlow.

With a population approaching two million, there are major hospitals and health centres all over the county. Business Waste offers a collection and disposal service for sanitary waste, with bins on customers’ sites tightly monitored and controlled to maintain the lowest possible risk to public health.

If your business needs a straightforward commercial wheeled bin collection, or if you have more specialist needs such as confidential waste, we make sure your trade waste collections are exactly right for your company. We provide low cost commercial waste services and recycling across the commercial sector.

Waste Disposal
Essex

Recycling services are particularly relevant to the glass plant which has been in Harlow since the town was built. Airports are also keen to tell passengers about their environmental credentials and, as well as Stansted, Southend Airport is growing quickly, with new terminals and railway stations welcoming an increasing number of passengers.

Ford’s UK headquarters in Basildon, New Holland’s European headquarters, McLaren Construction’s UK and international HQ in Brentwood, and thousands of other administrative centres could benefit from Business Waste’s efficient and rapid confidential recycling and disposal services.

We provide tailored commercial waste services throughout Colchester, Southend and Basildon. Our UK-wide experience means your company gets the best possible prices on waste management and recycling in Essex whether you trade as a solicitor, restaurant, shop, or in the manufacturing sector.

Recycling
Essex

Essex is a prosperous county on the east coast of England, bordered by the Thames Estuary to the south, Hertfordshire to the west and Suffolk to the north.

Within easy reach of London, agriculture has been a mainstay industry for centuries, being one of the counties that satisfied the appetite of the growing metropolis. But the Thames ports also made it a popular destination for heavy and light industry. The major Ford engine plant at Dagenham is well-known and feeds many light engineering suppliers and offshoots in the area.

Industrial sites line the shoreline past the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, onward to Tilbury Docks and the London Gateway Port, before giving way to popular sailing destinations around Southend. The busy ferry port town of Harwich marks the northern boundary.

To the west the new town of Harlow was the birthplace of fibre optic cable. That site is being redeveloped, as part of the new Harlow Enterprise Zone, into a state of the art science and technology park.

North of Harlow is London’s third airport – Stansted – a hub for the many businesses serving 22m passenger movements each year, producing a significant amount of waste.

With all those differing industries in one county, it’s no surprise that Essex presents a complex waste management challenge, one that Business Waste can deal with.

Got a
Question?

  • Can I add an additional bin to my service?

Yes, of course. We can provide extra bins for new waste streams to encourage recycling. Or if you’re simply producing more waste of the same type, we can add an extra or larger bin to your delivery and collection services if you’re at capacity.

  • Do you supply a duty of care certificate?

Yes, we provide a duty of care certificate (also known as a waste transfer note (WTN)) free of charge as part of your service agreement. This is included for free every time we collect any type of waste from your premises. Duty of care certificates are a legal requirement and licensed waste carriers can complete them for free – so you should never be charged for one.

Find out more about them in our guide to waste transfer notes.

  • How often will my bin be emptied?

We offer our customers a choice of daily, weekly, or fortnightly collections – so your bins are emptied as often as you want. Our expert team can advise on the correct waste collection schedule based on the type and amount of waste you produce and your business needs – such as your bin storage space and location.

  • What time will my bin be collected?

Bin collection times vary depending on your location, waste type, number and size of bins, and other factors. We work with all our customers to ensure your waste is always collected on time when it’s suitable for you and the licensed waste carrier. We can work around access times to arrange collections at convenient times.

  • What type of wheelie bins are available?

A range of two and four-wheel bins are available to store all sorts of waste on your premises. Explore our bins to see all available bins and information about what types and amounts of waste they can hold.

For any questions and answers about wheelie bin weight limits, sizes, locks, and anything else – read our bin FAQ guide.

  • How can we reduce our waste?

There are many ways to reduce the amount of waste we produce as individuals and businesses. A waste audit can highlight where you’re producing lots of waste as a starting place to cut down. Simple steps to reduce waste include efficient purchasing, buying reusable products, and recycling as much as possible. For more tips, read our guide about how to reduce waste.

If you have specific questions about reducing a certain type of waste, find the relevant page in Your Waste.

  • Do you collect any type of waste?

Yes! We can collect a wide range of waste types in various amounts from all sorts of businesses. From general waste to popular glass, paper, and packaging recycling – as well as specialist waste streams such as clinical, hazardous, and pharmaceutical waste – we work with licensed waste carriers able to safely collect all such types.

  • Is Business Waste ISO certified?

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems

These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.

  • What is ISO certification and why is it important?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.

ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
