Waste Disposal
Blackburn

In recent years the figures for recycling in Blackburn have dipped from 40% of all waste produced, to a below average total of 36%. The town of Blackburn is one of the lowest performing towns in the whole of the UK when it comes to environmentally friendly waste management. With so many different types of waste being produced it can be difficult to keep track of what you can and cannot recycle. At Business Waste Ltd we understand the headache waste management can cause and use high quality waste management technology to help save you and your business both money and time.

Recent reports have suggested that businesses and other commercial organisations who are seen to actively reduce their impact on the surrounding environment by recycling are likely to be more successful. Businesses across the UK are likely to have a higher reputation with their customers and staff when using green waste management solutions. We can also offer your Blackburn business recycling bins for your customers and staff to use, enabling them to feel satisfied that they too have reduced their carbon footprint.

Recycling
Blackburn

The Lancashire town of Blackburn is a vibrant hub of energy and thriving businesses. Blackburn boasts several excellent art and entertainment centres which puts it on the map as a cultural and creative centre. The town of Blackburn is also rich in interesting heritage and history noted by landmarks such as the Blackburn Cathedral and Turton Tower. It is vital that the town of Blackburn is kept clean so that it can be continued to be enjoyed by all.

The European Union has imposed a target of 50% of all waste to be recycled within the UK by 2020. The UK currently recycles around 44%, and over 20% of all waste produced that can be recycled is still disposed of in landfill. With landfill facilities becoming scarce it is vital that businesses and commercial organisations focus on recycling all if not most of their waste.

Alongside the UK green movement, Blackburn Council has been working to improve the percentage of waste recycled within the area. A recent report has shown that around 36% of all waste is now recycled or reused within the Blackburn area. Business Waste Ltd understand the demand for efficient business waste management services within the Blackburn area and offers a wide range of solutions to help businesses keep Blackburn clean.

Got a
Question?

  • Can I add an additional bin to my service?

Yes, of course. We can provide extra bins for new waste streams to encourage recycling. Or if you’re simply producing more waste of the same type, we can add an extra or larger bin to your delivery and collection services if you’re at capacity.

  • Do you supply a duty of care certificate?

Yes, we provide a duty of care certificate (also known as a waste transfer note (WTN)) free of charge as part of your service agreement. This is included for free every time we collect any type of waste from your premises. Duty of care certificates are a legal requirement and licensed waste carriers can complete them for free – so you should never be charged for one.

Find out more about them in our guide to waste transfer notes.

  • How often will my bin be emptied?

We offer our customers a choice of daily, weekly, or fortnightly collections – so your bins are emptied as often as you want. Our expert team can advise on the correct waste collection schedule based on the type and amount of waste you produce and your business needs – such as your bin storage space and location.

  • What time will my bin be collected?

Bin collection times vary depending on your location, waste type, number and size of bins, and other factors. We work with all our customers to ensure your waste is always collected on time when it’s suitable for you and the licensed waste carrier. We can work around access times to arrange collections at convenient times.

  • What type of wheelie bins are available?

A range of two and four-wheel bins are available to store all sorts of waste on your premises. Explore our bins to see all available bins and information about what types and amounts of waste they can hold.

For any questions and answers about wheelie bin weight limits, sizes, locks, and anything else – read our bin FAQ guide.

  • How can we reduce our waste?

There are many ways to reduce the amount of waste we produce as individuals and businesses. A waste audit can highlight where you’re producing lots of waste as a starting place to cut down. Simple steps to reduce waste include efficient purchasing, buying reusable products, and recycling as much as possible. For more tips, read our guide about how to reduce waste.

If you have specific questions about reducing a certain type of waste, find the relevant page in Your Waste.

  • Do you collect any type of waste?

Yes! We can collect a wide range of waste types in various amounts from all sorts of businesses. From general waste to popular glass, paper, and packaging recycling – as well as specialist waste streams such as clinical, hazardous, and pharmaceutical waste – we work with licensed waste carriers able to safely collect all such types.

  • Is Business Waste ISO certified?

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems

These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.

  • What is ISO certification and why is it important?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.

ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
