Commercial bins, bags, and containers
Ensure you have the right business waste bins, bags, or containers with a suitable strategy in place for your collections. We offer waste management audits that assess the amount and types of waste you produce and how often. This helps define the most effective and cost-efficient bins, bags, or waste containers you need and the best collection schedule for your business.
Regular collections are available for businesses producing waste throughout the year. We can also arrange one-off collections for office clear-outs, temporary projects or occasional extra waste without setting up an unnecessary ongoing schedule.
The relevant Duty of Care paperwork is included with your collection at no additional charge.
Commercial waste bin collection
Business Waste arranges commercial waste bin collections across the UK. We’ll help you choose the right bins, waste streams and collection schedule based on how quickly each container fills.
Collection options include:
- One-off and ad-hoc collections
- Daily, weekly and fortnightly collections
- Monthly or less frequent collections
- Different schedules for each waste stream
- Collections for single or multi-site businesses
Choosing the right commercial waste bin
The right commercial waste bin depends on the type and amount of waste your business produces, how quickly it builds up and the space available for storage. Smaller wheelie bins can suit offices, shops and lower-volume waste streams, while larger containers provide more capacity for businesses producing regular amounts of general waste or recycling.
Some materials, including food, glass and specialist waste, require particular container types or sizes. See our commercial bin sizes guide for dimensions, capacities and comparisons.
Commercial waste bin hire
Standard commercial waste bins are supplied without separate rental or delivery charges as part of your collection service. Your quote is based on the waste type, number of bins, business location and collection frequency.
Specialist containers and equipment may have different hire, delivery or servicing arrangements. We’ll confirm the relevant costs when quoting for your requirements.
Bins for Simpler Recycling
Under Simpler Recycling, workplaces in England must separate recyclable materials, food waste, and general waste before collection. The rules have applied to most workplaces since 31 March 2025. Businesses with fewer than 10 full-time staff have a deadline of 31 March 2027.
A typical setup may include:
- Food waste bins for leftovers, peelings, tea bags, and coffee grounds
- Paper and cardboard bins for clean, dry paper and card
- Dry mixed recycling bins for plastic, metal, and glass where these materials are collected together
- General waste bins for items that cannot be recycled
We’ll recommend suitable bins based on your waste volumes, storage space, and operating hours.
Paper and card can sometimes be collected with other dry recyclables, but only where the collection meets the Simpler Recycling requirements.

Commercial waste bin FAQs
-
How much does a commercial waste bin cost?
The cost depends on the bin size, waste type, collection frequency and your location. Business Waste provides free bins, so you only pay for collection, disposal or recycling.
-
What size are commercial waste bins?
Commercial waste bins range from small internal containers and 120L or 240L wheelie bins to larger 660L and 1100L bins.
Businesses with higher waste volumes may need skips, front-end loaders, roll-on roll-off containers, balers or compactors.
-
What can go in a commercial waste bin?
That depends on the waste stream. General waste bins are for non-recyclable business waste. In other cases, separate bins may be needed for food waste, paper and card, dry mixed recycling, glass, clinical waste, hazardous waste and confidential waste.
Always use the bin agreed for each material to avoid contamination and load rejection.
