Small Wheelie Bins
A small wheelie bin is the smallest two-wheel bin available for your commercial waste. It’s the standard bin that’s used by most local councils for domestic waste removal. This makes it lightweight and easy to move around your premises for storing a range of waste types before collection.
Small wheelie bins are the perfect solution for small businesses and those where space to store a waste container is limited. Plus, the size of a small wheelie bin means it’s easy to keep out of view to ensure your business looks tidy and presentable for any clients and customers.
Bigger businesses often use them as well, for specific waste types they don’t produce a lot of or for frequent collections. Whatever the size, industry, and location of your business, we deliver small bins for free anywhere in the UK – just pay for collection. What is a
small wheelie bin?
A small wheelie bin is a compact two-wheel bin that offers a smaller alternative to the more common 240 litre wheelie bin. It can still store a maximum of two or three bags of waste when you use standard size 65 litre bin bags. Often, it’s a more cost-effective option for smaller businesses or those that produce minimal waste.
The features of a 120L wheelie bin are similar. They’re made from the plastic polyethylene, so have a durable build that’s weather-resistant for storage outside. The handle and two wheels make it easy to move around, while a lid further protects waste from rainwater and contamination. Different coloured small bins also help separate waste types.
Small wheelie
bin dimensions
A small bin is the shortest of all wheelie bins available for collecting, storing, and disposing of business waste. Its smaller size means it also has a reduced capacity compared to 240 and 360 litre wheelie bins, but that does make it easier to store in compact spaces.
Despite smaller small wheelie bin dimensions, you can still store up to three bags of waste and loose recycling in it. Small wheelie bin dimensions are:
- From – Height – 0.93m
- From – Width – 0.48m
- From – Depth – 0.55m
There are also lighter weight limits for certain waste types (mainly food and glass waste) due to the size of a small wheelie bin. However, for general waste and most dry recycling types these weight restrictions are the same as for 240 litre bins. Weight limits for a small wheelie bin are:
- Dry mixed recycling – 10kg
- Paper and cardboard recycling – 10kg
- General waste – 10kg
- Food waste – 65kg
Why do I need a
small bin?
If you run a business that doesn’t produce much waste on a daily basis, then a small bin may make sense both practically and financially. For example, offices with only a few employees might only need a small recycling bin for the plastic drinks bottles and recyclable food packaging leftover from lunch.
Larger businesses that create more waste can still benefit from small litre bins though. Using such smaller wheelie bins means you can arrange more frequent collections, which is ideal if you need regular waste removal from your premises. Plus, where space for waste storage is limited, their compact size provides a space saving solution.
You can easily separate your waste types with different coloured small litre wheelie bins too. Use a small green wheelie bin for your dry mixed recycling and a grey or black one for your general waste, for example. This too can be more efficient if you only produce a limited amount of a specific recyclable waste stream.
If you find a small bin is too small or you need more collections than expected, there are plenty of larger wheelie bins available for commercial waste. Consider the following two and four-wheel options:
What can you put in a
small wheelie bin?
Lots of common waste types can be put in bin bags and stored in a small bin. They’re a common choice for general waste, while you can also use them as a small recycling bin for a range of different streams.
You cannot put liquid, hazardous, oil, or clinical waste in a small litre wheelie bin. Much like a 240L bin though, you can use them for just food waste and glass recycling (though check the weight limits).
Common waste types can store in a small litre wheelie bin include:
