Front End Loader Bins

A front end loader bin is ideal for businesses that produce high volumes of waste and need regular collections. It can store a wide variety of waste types, from general waste to recyclable materials and compacted rubbish. Due to its large size and static nature, you must ensure you have enough room on your premises to accommodate one first.

They’re not as big as rear end loaders, are more compact and easier to slot into your premises as they don’t have the same skip shape. If you need to store more waste, then a rear end loader may be best. Find out more about rear end loaders.

What is a
front end loader?

A front end loader (FEL) is a large equipment vehicle or machine that moves heavy materials, often on construction sites. However, a front end loader bin is simply a big, static container for storing various waste types that needs industrial lifting equipment to move it around. They’re lockable, static, and available in different sizes.

Sometimes front end loader refers to the machine used to lift the bin, at other times the actual container. FEL bins don’t have any wheels, so it stays in one place on you premises. And front end refers to the way it’s loaded (from the front), which can make them easier to access than a rear end loader bin.

FEL bin sizes

Front end loader bins are available in three sizes to suit the waste storage and removal needs of many businesses. Choose the size that easily fits on your premises and has a capacity that meets the amount of waste you produce. The dimensions for each FEL bin vary depending on its size.

Weight limits vary depending on the type of waste you store in an FEL container. The number of full waste bags you can store in each also changes based on the waste type and size of bin you use.

Find a front end loader bin that meets your commercial waste and space needs from the following FEL bin sizes:

  • 6 yard FEL container – around a 4,600-litre capacity, holds about 60 bags of waste
  • 8 yard FEL container – around a 6,000-litre capacity to hold about 70 bags of waste
  • 10 yard FEL container – around a 7,600-litre capacity to hold about 80 bags of waste

If you produce more waste, then consider a rear end loader – as some have a larger capacity.

Why do I need a
front end loader skip?

If your business regularly produces large amounts of general, commercial, compactable, or industrial waste, then a front end loader skip may be a cost-effective option. As long as you have space on your premises for a static FEL bin (often outside), then it provides a convenient storage solution.

An easy to open lid offers great access to throw away all sorts of waste – though if you have different waste types, you’ll need more than one FEL bin for each. They’re large, durable, and lockable, which ensures any waste is kept safe and secure, reducing the chances of contamination, theft, and damage.

Compare front and rear end loaders

This helps your company uphold its legal and moral responsibilities when it comes to producing, storing, and disposing of waste. Their large size means you can arrange collection on a schedule that suits you – on a regular basis if you produce lots of waste, or less frequently to save on costs when you generate less waste.

Unlike rear end loaders, they take up much less space and have a more cylindrical shape that’s easier to find room for in your yard. Plus, they hold a greater amount of waste compared to most skips, with a lockable lid for extra protection.

What can you put
in FEL bins?

FEL waste containers are suitable for general waste, compactable waste, and single waste streams for recycling. Most businesses use them to store the likes of dry mixed recycling, cardboard, and bulky waste. They’re not suitable for glass, liquids, or hazardous waste.

You can use a front end loader bin to store:
