Dental Amalgam Waste Bin Collection

Separating amalgam from general and other clinical waste allows its mercury content to be managed through the correct specialist recovery or treatment route. The container also needs to minimise mercury-vapour exposure while stored at your practice.
Dental amalgam needs a sealable, puncture-resistant rigid container that is clearly labelled and contains a mercury suppressant. Non-infectious dental amalgam is sent through an appropriate mercury recovery route. Amalgam contaminated with infectious material requires separate classification and treatment arrangements.
