How commercial bin service works

  1. Tell us what waste you produce

Let us know the waste streams, volume and how quickly your current bins fill.

  2. Choose the right bin sizes

We’ll recommend container sizes based on waste type, storage space, weight limits and collection frequency.

  3. Receive your bins

Standard wheelie bins are delivered to the agreed site location, with no rental or delivery charges where applicable.

  4. Arrange collections

Collections can be scheduled around your waste volumes, opening hours and site access, with different frequencies for different bins.

Commercial wheelie bin sizes and specifications

Most businesses use wheelie bins of various sizes to separate and store the waste they produce daily. You can use wheelie bins for general waste and food waste, as well as recyclable rubbish such as cardboard, paper, glass, plastic, and dry mixed recycling. Two- and four-wheel bins are available in different sizes.

Our wheelie bin options range from 240 litres up to 1100 litres. A 120L option is also available in some areas. The best size for your business depends on the waste you produce, your available space, the expected weight of the waste and how often you’ll need it to be collected.

  • 120L wheelie bin size

The size of a 120 litre wheelie bin is approximately 0.93m H × 0.48m W × 0.55m D. The smallest two-wheel option for low-volume waste or restricted storage space. Availability varies by area, so check before planning your waste setup around this size.

  • 240L wheelie bin size

The size of a 240 litre wheelie bin is approximately 1.10m H × 0.61m W × 0.88m D. 240 litre wheelie bins have the capacity to hold four or five bags of waste. This size is usually suitable for a small shop.

  • 360L wheelie bin size

A 360L wheelie bin measures 1.10m H × 0.61m W × 0.88m D. 360 litre wheelie bins can store five or six bags of waste. If you produce around one bag of rubbish per day, this could be the right size for your business.

  • 660L wheelie bin size

The size of a 660 litre wheelie bin is approximately 1.30m H × 1.26m W × 0.72m D. 660 litre wheelie bins have enough room for 10 to 12 bags of waste. If you run a small restaurant, this bin size is often a good starting point.

  • 1100L wheelie bin size

The size of a 1100 litre wheelie bin is approximately 1.40m H × 1.26m W × 1.00m D. 1100 litre wheelie bins can store up to 18 bags of waste. If your business produces higher volumes of waste, such as a busy restaurant, this bin size is often required.

Which commercial wheelie bin size should I choose?

There are four key things to consider before choosing the size of your commercial wheelie bin.

  • Waste volume
  • Waste type
  • Storage space
  • Collection frequency

A larger litre capacity does not mean every waste stream can be filled to the top. Dense materials such as food or glass can reach safe collection-weight limits much sooner than paper, cardboard or other lightweight recycling. A smaller bin collected more frequently might suit your operating times better than a larger bin with fewer collections.

Our team can help you assess your options.

Large commercial waste container sizes

If you’re a business that creates high volumes of waste and you have enough space on site, these containers might be suitable.

The following static containers are all much bigger than wheelie bins. Explore the range of industrial bin sizes available:

Arrange commercial bin delivery and collection

Tell us which waste streams you produce and roughly how quickly your bins fill. We’ll help identify the bin sizes, quantities and collection frequencies that suit your site. One-off collections can also be arranged if required.

You can use different schedules for each waste stream, and the setup can be reviewed if bins regularly overflow or remain half empty.
