Both Damart sites generate a wide range of waste streams with different volumes, storage needs, and disposal requirements. These include:

• Dolav plastic pallets 
• Baled material
• Confidential waste
• Metal waste
• General waste 

The business needed a more efficient way to separate, store, and collect multiple waste types without waste building up onsite. Reducing general waste, increasing recycling rates, and preventing landfill use were also key goals.

As a large organisation, Damart needed more than a standard supplier. They required ongoing waste expertise, tailored advice, and proactive monitoring to ensure the service always remained fit for purpose and cost-effective.

We introduced a smarter, more sustainable waste setup across both sites, supported by a single point of contact and regular service reviews.

What we are changing:

• Sourcing specialist equipment, including balers and compactors, to reduce volume, improve segregation, and lower collection costs.
• A planned transition from a general-waste compactor to a Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) compactor, significantly increasing recycling rates.
• New disposal routes through controlled tips to divert waste away from landfill. This includes banding (now baled) and wrapped brochures.
• Support across all waste types, including clearances, recycling collections, and confidential waste removals.
• Industry expertise and ongoing consultancy to help the site make informed decisions about waste, equipment, legislation, and best practice.
• Asbestos support. Identifying asbestos on site and arranging safe removal through approved providers. 

We also identified biodegradable canteen packaging incorrectly going into general waste. We introduced segregated food-waste collections so compostable packaging could be managed correctly.

For high-value waste streams such as cardboard and metal, we continually test the market to secure the best rebate rates.

Our partnership includes detailed, bespoke waste reporting to support year-end internal reporting and PRN (Packaging Recovery Note) submissions.
