Plastic Balers for Hire & Rental

Business Waste arranges plastic baler hire for businesses producing regular volumes of clean plastic film, packaging, bottles, containers and suitable production waste.

Tell us what plastics you produce, roughly how much, the space available for a machine and how often bales are likely to need collecting. We’ll help identify a suitable vertical or horizontal plastic baler, arrange delivery and set up collection of the baled material.

Keeping suitable plastics clean and separated by polymer or material type can improve their recycling route and may increase the potential for a plastic recycling rebate.

How does plastic baler hire work?

  1. Tell us about your plastic waste

Let us know whether you produce film, bottles, rigid packaging, manufacturing offcuts or other plastic, along with the average volume.

  2. We identify a suitable baler

We’ll compare vertical or horizontal plastic baler machines based on the material, throughput, available space and required bale size.

  3. Your baler is delivered

Once the equipment and hire terms are agreed, delivery and any installation or setup requirements can be confirmed.

  4. Bale and separate your plastic

Use the machine only for the agreed plastic streams and keep finished bales clean and appropriately separated for collection.

  5. We arrange bale collection

Finished plastic bales are collected on the agreed schedule and transferred through the appropriate recycling route.

Plastic baler hire

Using a plastic baler is an efficient way to recycle industrial and commercial plastic waste. These machines significantly reduce the volume of waste plastic and compress it into a solid bale that’s easy to store, transport, and dispose of responsibly. Businesses that produce high volumes of plastic waste benefit from them.

We can supply a wide range of plastic balers of different styles and sizes to companies across the UK. These include large horizontal plastic balers and more compact vertical machines ideal for where space is limited.

If your site already has accumulated plastic bales after a seasonal increase, stock clearance or production run, we can also discuss a one-off bale collection where available. Waste Transfer Note and relevant Duty of Care documentation for non-hazardous plastic bale collections is included at no additional charge.

What is a plastic baler machine?

A plastic baler machine uses hydraulic pressure to compress suitable loose plastic into a dense bale. Depending on the machine, material may be loaded manually, through a chute or using a conveyor.

Once compressed and secured, the bale can be removed using the appropriate handling equipment and stored before collection.

What plastics can go in a plastic baler?

Plastic balers are usually suitable for the following types of plastic waste:

  • Pallet wrap
  • Shrink wrap
  • Clean plastic film
  • Plastic bags where accepted
  • Bottles
  • Rigid packaging
  • Clean production offcuts

Selected rigid plastic production offcuts, profiles or similar materials where the machine and recycling route are suitable. Different polymers should normally be kept separate where required by the recycling route. Only combine plastic types where the collector or reprocessor has confirmed that the finished bale will be accepted.

Do not bale plastic contaminated with food, liquids, chemicals, general waste or hazardous residues unless a specialist route has been agreed.

Horizontal vs vertical plastic balers

Lightweight film and wrap can behave differently from rigid plastics during compression, so the baler should be matched to the material as well as the total volume.

Horizontal plastic balers suit sites producing consistently high volumes of suitable plastic waste. They require more floor space and are often used with conveyors or other automated loading systems.

Vertical plastic balers generally take up less floor space and can suit retailers, warehouses and manufacturers producing lower or moderate volumes of plastic film, packaging or other compatible material.

Benefits of a baler for plastic

Retailers, warehouses, and manufacturers that manage lots of plastic bottles, offcuts, and other plastic may consider using a baler. These are the main benefits of a baler for plastic:

  • Reduce storage space: Compress loose film, packaging and other suitable plastics into denser bales before collection.
  • Potentially reduce loose-waste collections: Where enough plastic is produced, baling can allow more material to be stored between collections. Whether this reduces total cost depends on machine hire, bale collection and your waste volumes.
  • Protect bale quality: Separating accepted plastic before baling can help prevent other waste streams from contaminating the finished bale.
  • Potential plastic recycling rebates: Regular quantities of clean, separated plastic bales may qualify for a rebate depending on polymer type, bale quality, weight and market conditions.

Plastic baler hire and bale collection

Business Waste arranges plastic baler hire for businesses across the UK, with vertical and horizontal machines available for different waste volumes and site layouts.

Tell us what plastics you produce, how much space you have and how frequently finished bales are likely to build up. We’ll compare suitable equipment and explain the proposed hire and collection arrangements.

Your quote will confirm the machine, rental period and any delivery, installation, servicing or maintenance arrangements that apply.
