Exciting Opportunity: Business Development Manager in the Waste Management Sector
Experience in the waste management sector is preferable. A minimum of 1 year in field sales is essential.
Competitive Basic Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 (Based on Experience)
On-Target Earnings: Basic OTE Up to £57,000 depending on experience (This is, however, Uncapped)

Flexible Holidays: 20 days + bank holidays, with an extra day added for each year of service (up to 5 years)
This is a role for a true sales hunter – someone with the drive, resilience, and commercial acumen to identify, engage, and convert new opportunities into long-term contracts. This is not an account management position; we are looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual who thrives on generating their own leads and closing high-value deals.
About the Role
This is a new business acquisition role focused on acquiring profitable waste management contracts across the UK.
You will be responsible for creating and managing your own pipeline, from initial prospecting through to contract close.
Your core objective will be to generate new revenue through strategic engagement with key decision-makers across multiple types of organisations.
You will work closely with our operations and service teams to ensure smooth onboarding and long-term customer satisfaction.
Remote working with 1 day every 2 weeks, working in our Head Office in York.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and target prospects within key industry sectors.
Work in your local area or move further afield to create new client meetings.
Conduct in-depth needs assessments and propose tailored waste management solutions.
Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract negotiation and handover.
Develop and execute a personal sales strategy aligned with business growth targets.
Represent the company at client meetings & site visits.
Build and maintain a healthy pipeline to ensure future months targets are achievable.
The Ideal Candidate
A proven B2B sales professional with a successful track record in new business development.
Experience, ideally selling to large corporate or multi-site clients.
Demonstrable ability to develop and manage a personal sales pipeline from scratch.
Strong negotiation and closing skills, with a consultative and solutions-focused approach.
A self-starter who is comfortable working independently, but also as part of a wider commercial team.
Requirements
1 year minimum experience in field sales roles is essential within the waste management industry
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of industry compliance requirements.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally if required.
