Waste Management Herfordshire

There is no type of trade waste that cannot be dealt with by Business Waste in Hertfordshire – we’d even try our best to find a way to recycle Harry Potter’s wand. We can provide regular and reliable waste collections (including the supply of wheelie bins), responsible disposals and a commitment to help businesses to recycle as much as possible. We do not deal with household waste, choosing to concentrate solely on businesses, meaning that owners and managers in the region can be assured of our dedication and focused expertise.

Around 1,140,700 people call the county of Hertfordshire home and live in an area covering 634 square miles. The towns of St Albans, Watford, Stevenage and Hemel Hempstead all have 50,000 to 100,000 inhabitants and the county also attracts considerable amounts of tourists visiting sites such as Warner Bros’ Leavedon film studios, home of the Harry Potter studio tours, and the stunning Tudor buildings of St Albans.

This means local business can benefit greatly from the input of our experts on waste management. We can help businesses achieve their recycling obligations and ambitions with the minimum amount of effort, allowing them to them use their green credentials as a differentiator for their business. Herfordshire

Service industries form the basis for the economy in the county and it is home to several headquarters of large UK companies. These include DSG International, Tesco, Roche UK, Pure, JD Wetherspoon and Skanska, along with Stevenage and Ware plans for GlaxoSmithKline. Hatfield was where the first ever commercial jet liner, known as the Comet, was first developed by de Havilland but today it is home to a campus of the University of Hertfordshire and a major business park housing the likes of Ocado, Computacenter and EE. This wide variety of businesses calls for a broad range of waste management services – something that Business Waste is on-hand to provide.

Trust
Business Waste

The need for effective waste management services may also increase further in the future after Hertfordshire received a £225,000 grant. The money will be used to regenerate town centres in the county and to create new health centres. Some funds will also be used to deliver new homes, whilst some will help to create community hubs where local people can congregate. This sort of congregation and growing numbers of residential and business opportunities, may lead to an increase in trade waste. Thankfully, we are available to help.

Got a
Question?

  • Can I add an additional bin to my service?

Yes, of course. We can provide extra bins for new waste streams to encourage recycling. Or if you’re simply producing more waste of the same type, we can add an extra or larger bin to your delivery and collection services if you’re at capacity.

  • Do you supply a duty of care certificate?

Yes, we provide a duty of care certificate (also known as a waste transfer note (WTN)) free of charge as part of your service agreement. This is included for free every time we collect any type of waste from your premises. Duty of care certificates are a legal requirement and licensed waste carriers can complete them for free – so you should never be charged for one.

Find out more about them in our guide to waste transfer notes.

  • How often will my bin be emptied?

We offer our customers a choice of daily, weekly, or fortnightly collections – so your bins are emptied as often as you want. Our expert team can advise on the correct waste collection schedule based on the type and amount of waste you produce and your business needs – such as your bin storage space and location.

  • What time will my bin be collected?

Bin collection times vary depending on your location, waste type, number and size of bins, and other factors. We work with all our customers to ensure your waste is always collected on time when it’s suitable for you and the licensed waste carrier. We can work around access times to arrange collections at convenient times.

  • What type of wheelie bins are available?

A range of two and four-wheel bins are available to store all sorts of waste on your premises. Explore our bins to see all available bins and information about what types and amounts of waste they can hold.

For any questions and answers about wheelie bin weight limits, sizes, locks, and anything else – read our bin FAQ guide.

  • How can we reduce our waste?

There are many ways to reduce the amount of waste we produce as individuals and businesses. A waste audit can highlight where you’re producing lots of waste as a starting place to cut down. Simple steps to reduce waste include efficient purchasing, buying reusable products, and recycling as much as possible. For more tips, read our guide about how to reduce waste.

If you have specific questions about reducing a certain type of waste, find the relevant page in Your Waste.

  • Is Business Waste ISO certified?

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems

These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.

  • What is ISO certification and why is it important?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.

ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
