Part of our service is the provision of a dedicated waste management adviser for all businesses who choose us. This ensures that waste and recycling is collected when required and is disposed of correctly in areas including Loughborough, Hinckley, Lincoln and Derby. We also offer a free audit to allow us to tailor-make our services to reflect the frequency of waste collections needed, the disposal methods required (including wheelie bins) and the potential for recycling materials. This ensures that we always offer the highest quality services to fully meet the individual needs of all of our business customers in the region.

Waste Disposal
East Midlands

There is no shortage of environmentally conscious consumers in the East Midlands, making a great recycling strategy essential for any business which wants to attract the ‘green pound’ and be seen as a conscientious and trustworthy organisation. We can help owners and managers to come up with such a strategy and then implement an efficient regime to ensure that as many materials as possible avoid ending up in overcrowded landfill sites. The materials we regularly deal with include glass, cardboard, paper, plastics, scrap metal, garden waste, soil and food waste.

East Midlands

The East Midlands is a thriving economic hub thanks to its excellent transport links with London, the rest of the UK and beyond. It is home to more than 4.5 million people and covers an area of just over 6,000 square miles. Within its borders lies the four cities of Nottingham, Lincoln, Leicester and Derby, along with major towns such as Mansfield, Northampton, Kettering, Loughborough, Hinckley, Grantham, Corby, Chesterfield, Wellingborough and Boston. It also encompasses no less than six counties; Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.

The variety of industries and businesses represented in the East Midlands is vast, covering every sector. The region boasts above average economic output in the manufacturing sector and is renowned as a home for huge companies such as engineering giants Rolls-Royce, industrial gas turbine manufacturers Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery, Toyota Manufacturing UK, JCB Power Systems, Tata Steel Tubes Europe and Triumph Motorcycles. Representing the building materials and construction industries, East Midlands is home to the likes of the British Gas national distribution centre, which is Europe’s biggest warehouse of gas parts, Topps Tiles, BPB plc, Barratt Developments, and Travis Perkins. Dr Martens and other footwear companies have bases in the southern part of the region and other textiles and clothing representatives include Paul Smith, Gossard, Berlei, Pretty Polly, Aristoc, Boden, Wolsey, Sports Direct, and George at Asda.

This plethora of renowned businesses, and huge numbers of smaller companies, means waste management is an important issue to be considered in the region.

Got a
Question?

  • Can I add an additional bin to my service?

Yes, of course. We can provide extra bins for new waste streams to encourage recycling. Or if you’re simply producing more waste of the same type, we can add an extra or larger bin to your delivery and collection services if you’re at capacity.

  • Do you supply a duty of care certificate?

Yes, we provide a duty of care certificate (also known as a waste transfer note (WTN)) free of charge as part of your service agreement. This is included for free every time we collect any type of waste from your premises. Duty of care certificates are a legal requirement and licensed waste carriers can complete them for free – so you should never be charged for one.

Find out more about them in our guide to waste transfer notes.

  • How often will my bin be emptied?

We offer our customers a choice of daily, weekly, or fortnightly collections – so your bins are emptied as often as you want. Our expert team can advise on the correct waste collection schedule based on the type and amount of waste you produce and your business needs – such as your bin storage space and location.

  • What time will my bin be collected?

Bin collection times vary depending on your location, waste type, number and size of bins, and other factors. We work with all our customers to ensure your waste is always collected on time when it’s suitable for you and the licensed waste carrier. We can work around access times to arrange collections at convenient times.

  • What type of wheelie bins are available?

A range of two and four-wheel bins are available to store all sorts of waste on your premises. Explore our bins to see all available bins and information about what types and amounts of waste they can hold.

For any questions and answers about wheelie bin weight limits, sizes, locks, and anything else – read our bin FAQ guide.

  • How can we reduce our waste?

There are many ways to reduce the amount of waste we produce as individuals and businesses. A waste audit can highlight where you’re producing lots of waste as a starting place to cut down. Simple steps to reduce waste include efficient purchasing, buying reusable products, and recycling as much as possible. For more tips, read our guide about how to reduce waste.

If you have specific questions about reducing a certain type of waste, find the relevant page in Your Waste.

  • Do you collect any type of waste?

Yes! We can collect a wide range of waste types in various amounts from all sorts of businesses. From general waste to popular glass, paper, and packaging recycling – as well as specialist waste streams such as clinical, hazardous, and pharmaceutical waste – we work with licensed waste carriers able to safely collect all such types.

  • Is Business Waste ISO certified?

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems

These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.

  • What is ISO certification and why is it important?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.

ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:

    • ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
    • ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
