Bracknell
Bracknell is a large town situated in the Thames Valley approximately 34 miles west of London. With a population of 77,256 it is the third largest town in Berkshire after nearby Reading and Slough.
Designated as a new town in 1949, Bracknell is one of the five new towns created to house people who were displaced by WWII. As a result the architecture is made up of largely post war office buildings with a smattering of low-rise apartments and housing.
Bracknell was chosen as a new town partly because of its excellent transport connections, being situated on the Great Western line which links Wales, Bristol and Reading to Central London. It is also located just south of the M4 motorway which is a major tributary road linking Cardiff to Central London. The town is also located 18 miles west of Heathrow Airport, which is the busiest airport in Europe.
These excellent transport connections makes Bracknell popular with many national and international companies. Waitrose, the supermarket chain, is based in the town, along with the UK headquarters of many international companies including Brocade Networks, Hewlett-Packard, Dell Computers, Broadcom and 3M Industries.
Bracknell, along with nearby Reading plays host to more technology companies than any other part of the UK outside of London, leading some to describe the area as the UK’s equivalent of Silicon Valley. As a result there is low unemployment in the town and the wages here are higher than any other area outside of London.
But with high levels of growth and a dynamic local economy come problems with underlying services such as waste management. While it may not be as exciting as the many technology companies based in the area, many of these companies couldn’t exist without proper access to waste management and recycling services.

Business Waste
Bracknell, situated in Berkshire between Reading and Maidenhead, has a population of around 75,000. The original town has been around since 942AD, but the need for housing following World War 2 meant that the town grew considerably. More recently, the town has been earmarked for redevelopment starting with the recent opening of a new supermarket in Millennium Way. Bracknell is situated in the M4 corridor – an area famous for its technology companies, although other businesses have their headquarters here too. A claim to fame is that the Royal Albert Hall and Westminster Cathedral were built from the bricks manufactured at the local brickworks.
Business Waste Ltd can facilitate the waste requirements of Bracknell with as little of the waste as possible going into landfill. We are flexible when it comes to waste and recycling removal from site, especially in offices where confidentiality is key, such as those on Arlington Square or on the Southern Industrial Estate. We offer a 24/7 service so can meet the waste removal requirements of our Bracknell clients at a time that is convenient for them. With the redevelopment of Prince’s Shopping Centre, we can meet the growing needs for regular waste disposal as well as providing bins and recycling as necessary.

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:
- ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
- ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems
These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.
-
What is ISO certification and why is it important?
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.
ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:
- ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
- ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
