Fascinating Recycling Facts for Kids
They say we take in information like sponges when we are young. While we can learn every day of our lives, our time as children is the most educational of all. Hence why learning about recycling at a young age is a good thing. When children understand how waste is created, where it goes, what happens to it, and how it can be turned into new things, they are more inspired to recycle as they get older.
Getting your facts right
Kids also tend to react more readily to fascinating facts about recycling. These facts help them look at things in a different way. For example, making a new can for a drink requires the same amount of energy you would put into recycling 20 of the same cans. This shows them how much energy can be saved when recycling things, so they can be used once more.
Similarly, it is far more energy-efficient to recycle paper than make new supplies. Each tonne of paper that is recycled will save 17 trees from being chopped down. There is far less air pollution involved too – 73% less pollution, in fact, when compared to making that tonne of paper from scratch.
Making recycling a challenge
The easiest way to get kids into recycling is to inspire them to recycle as much as they can at home. Schools also have recycling initiatives that are ideal for helping kids understand more about where things go when they are thrown away. Can those things be reused or recycled instead of going to the landfill?
Rotting rubbish can produce methane, which is dangerous and can contribute to global warming. Meanwhile, recycling things saves on energy, resources, and time. Old aluminium products can be recycled into new ones while using just 5% of the energy required to make them from new, using raw materials rather than ones that are already available. How many kids would be inspired to recycle all their aluminium cans after learning that?
It can be hard to engage kids in helping to recycle. Yet by sharing recycling facts for kids that are designed to be easy to understand, the results will come. Share knowledge about which items can be recycled and which ones cannot and learn why. Recycling does begin at home, but it also begins at a young age, as kids begin to learn more about the world around them.

Service is really good, had many problems in the past with previous suppliers however since been with Business Waste I have not had any problems what so ever. From the start of the agreement the sales team was really helpful and helped with my requirements. I am in a very tricky location with not much room to store a container however I was provided with many options from the sales rep to accommodate my requirements. Customer Service from the staff is outstanding. Definitely recommend 100%.
