With the government constantly trying to improve recycling rates and encourage people to be wiser when it comes to depositing their rubbish, there is little wonder that many local councils are also stepping up the promotion of recycling in order to meet targets set by central government. More and more recycling centres are opening up and down the country and many existing recycling centres are undergoing renovation work in order for them to be large enough and capable enough to deal with more people coming through and using the facilities.
One of the busiest recycling centres in the country has recently undergone a £3m development and is now set to reopen to the public.
Farington Recycling Centre in Leyland, Lancashire, has been closed for some time whilst work was undertaken. Changes have been made to access roads so that more vehicles can enter and exit the facility easily and quickly, and a new system has also been put in place for emptying skips. There are also improved facilities for recycling cardboard, wood and glass.
