The hotel group were looking into cost savings by partnering with a recycling company and this gave them the opportunity to manage and monitor waste management in a much more structured and environmentally-conscious way.

All seven hotels are now recycling food waste in addition to plastic, cardboard paper and glass.

Statistics from SITA show that the hotels have more than doubled recycling across the group from 23 per cent to 48 per cent in May 2013.

Operations manager at Eden Hotel Collection, Josefine Blomqvist, says: “We are delighted that we have been able to reduce our waste across the group by such a significant amount.”

Eden Hotel Collection now aims to maintain and fine tune current practices in order to increase recycling even further to 60 per cent by the end of 2013.
