Carmarthenshire praised for recycling efforts

Residents from Carmarthenshire are being praised after the area achieved excellent recycling results.

Figures gathered from the Welsh government highlighted that the area’s residents recycled more than half of their rubbish during the first quarter of the year. This equates to the county recycling nearly sixty per cent of its rubbish from the period between April to June of this year.

Councillors have been quick to praise residents for their hard work and many of them also added that they hoped the good results would continue to keep showing. It is believed that recycling initiatives set up in the county not so long ago have helped to raise awareness in the area and have also played a part in generating the positive results.

There has been an introduction to recycling banks for small electrical items, and there has also been marketing aimed at the older generation which will help them to understand the importance of reusing everything that they possibly can. There are also a number of waste and tyre amnesties planned to give people who might struggle to get to a recycling centre the chance to dispose of, and recycle, large items of waste.
